Introduction to Qigong

Are you stressed out? Are you wanting to do something for your overall health? Are you looking for a daily practice to help re-center? Do you want to meditate but don't want to sit on a cushion?

This class may be for you . . .

A four-week course introducing easy movements and meditations to balance the body and the mind, with down-to-earth explanations of everyday health principles of Chinese medicine.

What is qigong? (Pronounced chee-gong)

Qigong is like tai chi, but easier and faster to learn.

Qigong is an ancient health cultivation method that focuses on movement, breath, posture, and meditative focus. There are many different styles and forms of qigong, from very vigorous and martial art-like to very gentle and flowing.

This class will focus on gentle, meditative movement.

These movements help release tension, calm the mind, and provide a practice you can use at home to improve your overall health.

Qigong is considered a preventative practice in Chinese medicine, cultivating energy and resilience in the face of external stresses.

What types of health benefits does qigong provide?

Research on qigong has suggested it can have positive benefits in the areas of bone density, cardiopulmonary function, blood pressure, anxiety relief, and immune function/regulation.

The benefits I personally have heard my qi gong students describe include:

Increased body awareness, coordination, and balance
Increased flexibility
Decreased muscle tension
Improved mental focus
Better posture
Better energy levels
More restful sleep

What does it cost?

This class is by donation and offered as a community resource. Suggested donation is $100 for the 4-week series. Everyone is welcome regardless of ability to pay, and any donation amount is appreciated. Please join us!

Donations can be made via Venmo or Cash App. Information will be provided upon registration.

What if I can’t attend all the sessions?

The sessions will be recorded and available for viewing after the class. The recordings will be also be available for 1 month after completion of the course for reference.

Do I need previous meditation or qigong experience?

Nope. It is designed for beginners.
